Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, proudly presents the Kuala Lumpur International Tattoo 2007 (KL International Tattoo 07) in conjunction with our 50th Independence Anniversary. The MAF is indeed privileged and honoured to co-host this maiden spectacular event for three consecutive nights at the historic Merdeka Stadium. The two-hour performance features a colourful show, among others showcases an enormous gathering of highly acclaimed massed pipes and drums, and military bands from home and abroad. I therefore hope that our presence will not only enliven the night, but more importantly prompt us to reminisce and glorify all the hardship and sacrifices that illustrated the road to independence five decades ago. As such, let the riveting beat of drums and solemn sound of bagpipes remind us of those unsung heroes who had audaciously fallen for this noble cause.
May I also take this opportunity to extend our appreciation to our foreign friends for their commitment towards the success of this event. Likewise, I wish to warmly welcome all of you to Malaysia, and also thank you for making our KL International Tattoo 07 a remarkable history. Your participation simply reflects the good bilateral ties and continued support that we have been enjoying thus far. We hope that your short stay here will enable you to explore our unique “Malaysia – truly Asia” experience.
On behalf of the organising committee, I also would like to record my sincere gratitude to all participating friendly nations, government agencies and individuals for the excellent support and co-operation in ensuring the KL International Tattoo 07 a great success. My special thanks to the working committee for the commendable commitment and dedication in seeing this event through. After months of planning, co-ordination and preparation, let us now enjoy the show, and may it be a night to remember.
