Course's Methodology





UN Military Observers Course

It is a four-week course for officers of the rank of Lt Col/Major/Captain or equivalent and is primarily designed to train participants for UN observer duties.

UN Logistics Course

This is a three-week course conducted to train and prepare officers in all aspects of UN Logistics, for participation in future peacekeeping operations.

This is a two-week course conducted alternately for officers and SNCOs to familiarise candidates in the different staff functions, UN procedures and administration.

Seminars and Forums

Primarily designed for intermediate/senior level participation from the MAF, Police, Government and Non Governmental Organisations and other Civil Departments. The seminar/forum will examine contemporary issues affecting and influencing the nature of modern methods of peacekeeping.

Course's Methodology

Subjects will be introduced through central presentations/lectures and where necessary to be followed by syndicate discussions and/or practical training. Case studies on selected UN issues and peace operations will also be conducted to draw lessons learnt and promote discussion. Subject experts from the Armed Forces, Police, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (IDFR), Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will also be invited as guest lecturers. To enhance understanding and comprehension, several field exercises and visits are also programmed.

Participants will also be privileged to meet some senior officers who have held key appointments at UN HQ and on UN Missions during forum/panel discussions. The medium of instruction for all courses, is English.
